School Council is a group that provides an opportunity for parents, community, and staff to work together to improve student learning and the school's general operations. The Council consists of the principal (Chairperson), two teachers (elected by staff), two parents (elected by Harbins parents), and two business representatives (one appointed by the Board of Education, and one appointed by the School Council). Council members fill two year terms, and are able to run for re-election if they continue to meet eligibility requirements.
Parent representatives must:
- have a student(s) who will attend Harbins during the current school year;
- be able to attend School Council meetings;
- be willing to serve a two-year term (unless your last child at Harbins will be in fifth grade this year);
- have a sincere interest in helping work together with other parents and staff to continuously improve Harbins Elementary School's program for students.
